7 accused of heists costing over $1 million in losses

| Mar 12, 2020 | Theft And Property Crimes |

Sometimes, theft happens where it is least expected. Most people wouldn’t expect armored vehicles or cars coming from warehouses to be targeted since they tend to be well-protected. That wasn’t the case in New York.

Recently, seven men were arrested in relation to a number of thefts involving ATM trucks. The men are accused of stealing over $1 million from the trucks, which carry the money that is used to fill ATMs around Brooklyn.

The news on March 4 reports that the men are believed to have been involved in 15 heists that happened around the city starting in December 2017. The latest was noted in July 2019.

How did the thefts work? The men allegedly monitored two warehouses and found the vehicles that were taking money from one location to another. They would then use tactics like giving the cars flat tires to enter the vehicles and steal the money.

The men, all between the ages of 31 and 47, are all Brooklyn residents. They are all charged with various crimes including charges for conspiracy, burglary, grand larceny and other related charges. Fortunately, no one was reported as being injured during any of the thefts.

These thefts are significant, but it doesn’t matter how much money is involved when you’re facing charges. Charges are serious, and you need to make sure that you’re prepared to defend yourself.

Regardless of the kind of theft or property crime you’re accused of, you need to take steps to protect your interests. You should learn more about the laws that impact you, the penalties that you could face and the possible ways to defend yourself against the accusations you’re facing.
