Drug crime charges filed against 3 in New York

| Nov 27, 2018 | Drug Charges |

Three people are facing a large list of charges after being busted by police on Long Island in and around the weekend of Nov. 25. Multiple drug crime charges have been filed against all three individuals, who were apprehended by New York authorities after an alleged drug deal. It is unclear whether any of these individuals have yet retained criminal defense counsel.

According to authorities, the arrests took place in Westbury where two offers on patrol noticed a vehicle parked in a dark, secluded section of a parking lot. Upon investigating what they claim was a suspicious vehicle, they found a man and a woman believed to be related as well as a third man in the vehicle. They were believed to be in possession of heroin, cocaine and fentanyl, though police have not explained how they came to this determination.

The man and woman were apprehended on-site, but the third man apparently tried to flee the scene. When officers caught up with him he also allegedly attempted to fight them before being taken into custody. The specifics of the charges filed against all three individuals have not been made public, nor has a court date been announced at this time.

Drug crime is taken very seriously in the state of New York, and depending on the volume of alleged drugs recovered by police, charges of possession and even trafficking are not out of the question. However, it will be the responsibility of prosecutors to provide competent evidence of drug crimes in this case. Each individual will be represented by their own defense attorney in court, both to ensure a fair trial and a comprehensive assessment of any evidence offered against them.
