STREET CRIME DEFENSE WITH NO JUDGMENT

New York City is fighting back against graffiti

| Jul 5, 2016 | Theft & Property Crimes |

In a big city like New York City, many types of crimes continue to be a problem. One that is often overlooked is graffiti vandalism.

While this sounds harmless enough, it is a serious crime as it results in the damage of property.

There are many types of graffiti, including but not limited to:

— Hate graffiti

— Gang graffiti

— Generic graffiti

— Street graffiti

Is it really a crime? Most definitely. Graffiti vandalism is not only a crime, but it is punishable by community service, monetary fine, or even a jail term.

Anybody who is caught by police defacing property without the permission of the owner will be arrested on the spot.

Many people believe that graffiti is a crime that is only committed by young children who have nothing else to do. However, this is not the case. Juveniles are responsible for some graffiti vandalism acts, but adults have also been arrested for the same crime.

While graffiti is a big problem in New York City, the same holds true in many other areas of the country. As a result, it is now considered an epidemic, as it costs billions of dollars every year.

With police fighting back against graffiti vandalism, it’s not out of the question for somebody to be arrested for this crime, despite the fact that they had nothing to do with the criminal act.

If you are arrested for graffiti vandalism, it’s important to understand the laws, your rights, and what could happen if you are convicted. It would be in your best interest to learn more so that you can avoid serious consequences, such as a jail sentence.
