Burglars break into homes for many reasons. Most of the time, their goal is simple: to take something that doesn't belong to them.
In some cases, a person breaks into a home with no idea of what they are going to steal. Others, however, have a clear idea of what they are looking for.
Here are some of the items that are most often stolen in home burglaries:
-- Cash. It shouldn't be a surprise that this is at the top of the list. Even if a burglar is looking for something else, they aren't going to pass up the chance at cash.
-- Prescription drugs. Unfortunately, many people develop an addiction to prescription drugs. As a result, when they can no longer get the drugs through any other means, they turn to crime.
-- Electronics. In today's age, many homeowners have thousands of dollars of electronics in their home. From televisions to computers to tablets (and that is just the start), most people own a few of these devices. Burglars love these items because of their high resale value.
These are the types of items that are most often stolen in home burglaries. There are others, such as jewelry and illegal drugs, which fit on this list as well.
Some people legitimately commit a crime, such as robbery or burglary. Then there are those who are charged with such a crime, but are innocent. Regardless of your involvement with such a serious crime, you want to understand the law and how you will be treated by the legal system.
