New Hartford man arrested in connection with robbery

| Jun 7, 2014 | Theft & Property Crimes |

Every year, many people make the mistake of robbing another person or business as a means of getting their hands on money or items that do not belong to them. Although these people know that what they are doing is wrong, they still make the mistake for some reason.

Recently, a New Hartford man was arrested in connection with a robbery that took place at the Runway Sunoco gas station on May 1. The 44-year-old man was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree and robbery in the first degree.

According to police, the clerk at the gas station said that a man came in, purchased beer, and then left the store. After that, he came back inside with a knife and demanded cash. At that time, he was given an undisclosed amount and then took off on foot.

Despite the fact that the New York State Police Canine Unit and New Hartford police conducted a search after the incident, they were not able to locate the man. After being caught recently, he was sent to Oneida County Jail with bail set at $30,000.

There is no additional information available at this time as to why the New Hartford man decided to rob the store. Even though he was able to get away with the crime for awhile, he was eventually brought to justice. Now he will have his chance to go through the court process with hopes of realizing his mistakes and getting his life back on track to ensure a better future. A skilled defense attorney may be able to reveal some mitigating circumstances to the jury to encourage lenience.
