STREET CRIME DEFENSE WITH NO JUDGMENT

9 people charged with drug-related offenses

| Jun 5, 2014 | Drug Charges |

For one reason or the next, some people get involved with illegal drugs. Some only use the drugs, while others sell these substances as a means of making money. This doesn’t mean these people are necessarily bad, it simply means that they made a poor decision at some point in their life.

Four people from the Mid-Hudson Valley, as well as four others, have been charged with a total of 140 drug-related offenses in relation to the possession and trafficking of cocaine. Along with this, a ninth person was arrested in a trafficking ring that transported drugs from New York City to the Wappingers Falls area.

Documents filed in Dutchess County Court show that the operation was run by a husband and wife team from an apartment in upper Manhattan. It is also believed that the couple used another apartment to simply store the cocaine and conduct transactions with buyers.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security, state police, and the Attorney General’s Organized Crime task Force all played a big part in bringing down the drug operation.

New York state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman realizes just how big of an operation this was, saying, “We know this is a multimillion-(dollar) operation.”

This drug operation was anything but simple, as it involved nine people and spanned a large area. While all of these people have been charged with drug-related offenses, it does not mean that their life is over. Instead, this gives them the chance to face the court system, deal with any penalty given to them, and hopefully get their life back on track.
