STREET CRIME DEFENSE WITH NO JUDGMENT

Five arrested for Central Park robberies

| Apr 25, 2014 | Theft & Property Crimes |

While robberies occur in every part of the country, New York is known for having a high rate of these types of crimes. During the morning hours of April 21, 2014, five teenagers went on a robbery spree that has landed them in trouble with the authorities.

According to police, three of the suspects were caught on Fifth Avenue while the other two were apprehended when they showed up at the police station to check on the others. All five of the teens are expected to face charges related to the robberies.

Police said the group attacked a man at approximately 5:15 a.m. at 95th Street and Fifth Avenue. One of the teens used a stick to threaten the man, demanding that he turn over any valuables. After hesitating to do so, one of the teens struck him in the face and the group then fled.

Once they moved to the park, they robbed two women, ages 46 and 48. While neither women was hurt in the incident, the group stole an iPod and an iPhone.

One person who regularly visits the park said, “That’s terrible, terrible. We never have had anything like that. I hope something will be done.”

The oldest teen is 16 years old, with two others 14 and two 13. In this case, it appears that a group of teenagers took a wrong turn somewhere, making the mistake of going on a robbery spree. Not only did this harm the five teens, but it did the same to those who were robbed as well as those who visit or live in the area.
