Over the years, New York City has become known for its high level of gun crime. Despite the fact that local police are doing their best to cut back on this, there are still instances in which trouble arises. Recently, a New York City emergency medical technician was arrested on charges of menacing and harassment as well as criminal possession of a weapon.
According to police, the arrest occurred when officers visited the man's Brooklyn home in response to a domestic dispute. It was at that time that they found a variety of weapons.
The man's wife called 911 to report that her husband was using a gun to threaten her. At the time, the couple's child was in the home. Upon arriving, officers found two rifles, five handguns and two pipe bombs. To ensure the safety of all those involved, the building was evacuated.
Neighbors who were forced to wait outside were shocked by the news, with one person saying, "We can't believe this. He's a nice guy."
Even nice people make mistakes from time to time. In this case, a 29-year-old husband and father was arrested on multiple charges, all of which are very serious.
This may have been an unexpected arrest according to neighbors, but it is not uncommon in many parts of New York City and the rest of the U.S. This man will find himself moving through the legal system for these gun crime charges in the near future. Presenting a strong defense will be necessary and he may find that the advice of an experienced criminal defense attorney will be invaluable.
