Reverend arrested on sexual abuse charges

Throughout the United States, sexual abuse cases often receive the most attention. This holds true regardless of location, number of victims, or the background of the suspect.

New York State Police have arrested a reverend from western New York on sexual abuse charges. Generally, when the accused comes from a position of power, such as within a church, the case receives even more attention.

The man, a 70-year-old reverend from Middleport, has been charged with the following: two counts of incest, two counts of course of sexual conduct, and four counts of sodomy in the first degree. These are serious charges, with the two counts of incest a class E felony and the others class B felonies.

According to police, the alleged crimes took place from September 2000 to September 2001. Upon investigating the man, police noted that he also committed crimes in other states including Pennsylvania and Michigan, dating back as far as 1974. As a result, New York State Troopers have referred the crimes and related information to the appropriate agencies in these states.

From 1974 to 2003, police believe this man sexually abused victims in three states. As always, the court system is going to take over at this point and decide if the man is guilty or innocent.

Anybody who has been charged with a sex crime, regardless of the seriousness, should contact an experienced attorney as soon as possible. It is important to receive legal guidance to ensure that your rights are protected at all times.
