Jewelry store robbery has NYPD on alert

| Dec 20, 2013 | Theft & Property Crimes |

In many parts of the country, especially big cities, many types of crimes are common. While police do their best to patrol the streets and protect those who live in a particular area, there is no way of putting an end to all crime.

Our New York readers are well aware of the many robberies that take place throughout the city, as well as in neighboring areas, on a regular basis. Most recently, a pair of robbers rushed into a jewelry store in Lower Manhattan and threatened two employees with a gun.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, the suspects entered Omega Millennium on Nassau Street. While one suspect pulled out a gun, the other one pushed the two employees into a safe room. Both men then tied up the victims using a cord and zip ties. From there, they removed jewelry from the display cases and immediately ran from the store.

Although surveillance cameras caught the two men on camera, it is difficult to see their faces. That being said, police have released information on the approximate age and build of the two suspects, with both being black males of approximately 40 years of age.

A robbery is something that can happen at any time, with jewelry stores a common target due to the high cost of the goods in the store. Anybody who has been accused of robbery or another related crime needs to contact a criminal defense attorney who can protect their rights and help them move through the legal process in the appropriate manner.
