From one side of the country to the next, many people are aware that robbery is a common crime that could impact them at any time. This is more so the case in some parts of the United States, such as big cities, including New York City.
Long Island police have arrested three men in connection with a robbery that took place during the early morning hours of Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013.
According to reports, a 19-year-old man was walking his girlfriend to her car at approximately 3 a.m. At this time, the defendants got out of their vehicle and approached the couple.
One of the defendants, a man who was allegedly carrying a handgun, told the victim to empty his pockets. During the robbery, all three men covered their faces. As a result of the violent act, the defendants were allegedly able to steal a gold chain, cell phone and Gucci belt.
Fortunately, the trio did not make it very far as a local police officer pulled their car over and arrested all three. The men, age 19, 19 and 20, were charged with robbery, as well as possession of a dangerous weapon.
On Monday, the defendants are due for arraignment at Nassau County First District Court.
Being convicted of robbery or burglary is serious and could lead to time in prison. Every person charged with a crime has the right to a fair trial, no matter what the charges may be. A criminal defense attorney works vigorously to ensure that their clients’ rights are protected as their cases move through the court.
