SERVING NEW YORK WITH INTEGRITY & COMMITMENT

New York City police officer charged with burglary, assault

While there is no excuse for committing burglary or robbery, many people make this mistake for one reason or another. This includes police officers, with a 27-year-old New York City Police Department officer recently charged with third degree assault and burglary.

The man has gone from the top of his industry, when he was given a Police Combat Cross in June of 2013, to his most recent arrest in relation to allegations that he broke into a woman's apartment and assaulted her.

Following the ceremony in which he received the award, he celebrated with friends and allegedly had too much to drink. Upon waking up in the middle of the night, he allegedly wandered into the apartment of a woman. When he was confronted, he allegedly threw the woman down and beat her.

According to reports, he allegedly told the woman, "Sometimes I'm a good guy, but sometimes I'm a bad guy."

Making matters worse is the fact that the New York Police Department did not know they were searching for one of their own officers, thus distributing a wanted poster with his face on it.

The man's badge and gun were taken away, and he was recently released from jail on his own recognizance.

While there is no excuse for burglary, assault and other similar crimes, people make mistakes from time to time, especially if they have been drinking. Anybody who is charged with such a crime will be faced with the legal process. The best way to get through this and on with the rest of your life is to utilize the guidance of an experienced legal professional.
